Learn Basic Chinese Head, Neck and Shoulder Massage. Enhance Upper Body Qi Flow.

In this practical session, you will learn a basic routine to massage the hand, arm, shoulder, neck and head using Chinese medical massage techniques. This routine can be used on your friends and family.

It is designed not only to relax muscles but also to open up and release trapped qi in the upper part of the body which can result in the relief of many symptoms, both physical and emotional.

From a Chinese medicine viewpoint, the upper body often gets locked up and the flow stagnated. This can be the cause of symptoms ranging from headaches, stiff neck and shoulders to recurrent coughs, colds, hayfever and numerous conditions that are physically located in the upper part of the body.

By stimulating the flow of 'qi' and blood by utilising certain techniques and acupressure points, this circulation can be reestablished leading to the reduction in any associated symptoms.

James Moss and Alex Jacobs, both qualified and experienced Chinese massage practitioners, will lead the session. After a brief introduction to the basic theory, the majority of the session will be spent with practical demonstration and the opportunity to practice the techniques on other attendees in a seated position.

This session will be a nice complement to the self-acupressure meetupupressure routine. However, it is not necessary to attend one to attend the other.
