About the event
Experience Chinese Herbal Medicine with all of your senses! See, smell, touch, taste the herbs as your guide, Alex Jacobs takes you on a guided tour of the medicinal plants in Kew Gardens.
Each plant has its own story to tell and a rich history of use in medicine and in everyday life in China and the far East. Learn about the taste and nature of each plant and how they are used in modern medicine all around the world.
Alex will bring along some herbs in different preparations for you to taste, smell and feel on the day.
We will be having lunch in the garden after the walk. We will be booking a table for about 1pm at one of the restaurants in the park. Please email Alex at alex@daomedicine.com if you would like to reserve a place.
There is a £5 fee for the talk which does not include the price of entry to Kew Gardens.
To pre-book your tickets to the garden you can go to https://www.kew.org/kew-gardens/visit-kew-gardens/tickets. Full price entry is £18 on the door or £16.50 if booked online.
We will meet inside the park in the area you come into as soon as you come through the Victoria Gate ticket barrier.

About your guide:
Alex Jacobs has a Msc in Chinese Herbal Medicine and is a degree qualified Acupuncturist and Tui Na Massage practitioner. Fluent in Chinese, he has studied in the UK, China and Taiwan. He is the founder of the London Chinese Medicine Meetup group and is the conference organiser for the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine. He is an experienced herbal medicine practitioner and has much hands on experience with using plants as medicine.
