About the Event
Supercharge your health in the most simple way. Soup and Rice Congee are incredibly simple, easy and low-effort dishes to make, yet the impact on your health, vitality and energy can be profound. Using the principles of Chinese Medicine, the 4 temperatures and 5 flavours, you can not only get the powerful revitalising effect of soup and congee in your everyday diet, but you can also make them taste delicious, bringing in a touch of joy to your cooking.
Soup is Medicine. In fact the Chinese word for Soup tang湯, is the same word for ‘Herbal Formula’ used in the traditional medical system. Water itself has great healing properties, it just needs to be instructed what to do by the ingredients we put in it and the cooking methods we use.
Staying adequately hydrated is a health trend found everywhere nowadays. However, what is rarely talked about is HOW we put the water into our bodies. We might have been told that drinking litres and litres of water a day is good for us, but is it really if it makes us feel bloated or if it just goes immediately out the other end? How much of this water are we ACTUALLY absorbing? This talk will have many of the answers.
Understanding the Chinese medicine principles of preparing soup can ensure that it not only tastes great but stimulates our body into absorbing the fluids, transforming them, transporting them where they need to be and mobilising them into action. You will learn a number of different recipes and everyday foods and herbs that you can use to redefine what soup means in every way. You will also learn how to cook soup for different ailments and according to the seasons and your body constitution.
The Chinese always have a soup with every meal. What do they know that we don’t? Find out in this fun and interactive talk where you will of course get to sample some soup and congee!
